Al llegar al infierno hace un pacto con el demonio Malebolgia, quien lo convierte en un Hellspawn, regresando a la tierra como Spawn, sin embargo, este personaje quiere romper su trato con el demonio y lograr su redenci\u00f3n, por lo que se convierte en un h\u00e9roe, o, mejor dicho, antih\u00e9roe.<\/p>\n Spawn apareci\u00f3 por primera vez en el a\u00f1o 1992, publicada por la editorial Imagine Comics<\/a><\/strong>, una editorial fundada por varios creadores de c\u00f3mics que trabajaron para Marvel y DC Comics, y que tenia como premisa no interferir en el trabajo de los autores ni adue\u00f1arse de sus derechos de autor.<\/p>\n A pesar del buen recibimiento de Spawn, la historieta tuvo varias criticas debido al estilo de escribir de McFarlane. Por ello, McFarlane decidi\u00f3 contratar a un grupo de escritores, entre ellos Neil Gaiman. Gaiman cre\u00f3 la edici\u00f3n n\u00famero 9 de Spawn, donde present\u00f3 tres nuevos personajes: Medieval Spawn, Angela y el Conde Cogliostro.<\/strong> Debido a la popularidad de Angela, McFaarlane solicit\u00f3 a Gaiman que creara una miniserie sobre este personaje y colaborara en la edici\u00f3n 26 de Spawn.<\/p>\n La popularidad de Spawn fue tal que inspir\u00f3 la venta de figuras de juguetes de los personajes, prendas de vestir y la adaptaci\u00f3n en una serie de HBO, un film y una serie de videojuegos. Sin embargo, Gaiman no recibi\u00f3 regal\u00edas por ninguna de las licencias \u00a0de los personajes que cre\u00f2.<\/p>\n Finalmente, el origen del conflicto radic\u00f3 en la venta que McFarlane iba a hacer de su compa\u00f1\u00eda editorial, lo que hizo que Gaiman a McFarlane la realizaci\u00f3n de un contrato en el cual se verificara que es el coautor de la edici\u00f3n 9 de Spawn, de los personajes Medieval Spawn, Angela y Conde Cogliostro, la edici\u00f3n 26 de Spawn y la miniserie de Angela.<\/p>\n McFarlane se neg\u00f3 a otorgarle a Gaiman la coautor\u00eda, por lo que Neil Gaiman present\u00f3 demanda contra Todd McFarlane, solicitando que sea reconocida su coautor\u00eda sobre los personajes \u00a0y las obras creadas. El Tribunal declar\u00f3 con lugar la solicitud de Gaiman y aunque McFarlane apel\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n, el Tribunal de Apelaciones mantuvo la decisi\u00f3n del Tribunal de Distrito, siendo una gran derrota judicial para Todd McFarlane.<\/p>\n A pesar de que la cuesti\u00f3n sobre los personajes qued\u00f3 aclarada, al resolverse judicialmente que Neil Gaiman es coautor de las obra que cre\u00f3 para Spawn.
