Una de las principales contribuciones de Sierra Games a los juegos ha sido la creaci\u00f3n del motor interpretativo para el desarrollo de los juegos, de los que detallas las principales caracter\u00edsticas.<\/p>\n

Sierra’s Creative Interpreter<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0SCI<\/strong>\u00a0(\u00abInt\u00e9rprete Creativo de Sierra\u00bb) es un motor de creaci\u00f3n de videojuegos desarrollado por Jeff Stephenson para\u00a0Sierra Online, y hay que tener en cuenta que Sierra Entertainment Inc<\/em><\/strong>,\u200b anteriormente\u00a0Sierra On-Line<\/strong>,\u00a0Sierraventure<\/strong>\u00a0y\u00a0On-Line Systems<\/strong>, fue una empresa desarrolladora y distribuidora de\u00a0videojuegos\u00a0con sede en los\u00a0Los \u00c1ngeles,\u00a0California. La empresa fue durante tiempo una subsidiaria de\u00a0Vivendi Games\u00a0(una subsidiaria\u00a0Vivendi SA), en el 2008 fue absorbida por\u00a0Activision. Por su parte, Sierra pose\u00eda cuatro estudios de desarrollo internos:\u00a0High Moon Studios,\u00a0Massive Entertainment,\u00a0Radical Entertainment\u00a0y\u00a0Swordfish Studios.<\/p>\n

Este motor es utilizado por la mayor\u00eda de las\u00a0aventuras gr\u00e1ficas\u00a0de Sierra desde 1988 hasta 1996. Sustituy\u00f3 a\u00a0Adventure Game Interpreter\u00a0o AGI, el motor utilizado por Sierra hasta entonces. A diferencia de AGI, que utilizaba un\u00a0lenguaje procedimental SCI utilizaba un\u00a0lenguaje orientado a objetos.<\/p>\n

SCI tuvo un desarrollo continuo entre t\u00edtulo y t\u00edtulo. Sin embargo, pueden distinguirse cinco familias de versiones.<\/p>\n

Fue la primera versi\u00f3n, estrenada con\u00a0King’s Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella. Permit\u00eda gr\u00e1ficos con una resoluci\u00f3n de 320×200 a un m\u00e1ximo de 16 colores. Ten\u00eda soporte para tarjetas de sonido. Soportaba la introducci\u00f3n de \u00f3rdenes por teclado, aunque los juegos que no eran de aventura gr\u00e1fica no utilizaban necesariamente este medio. Tambi\u00e9n ten\u00eda soporte para\u00a0rat\u00f3n. Las \u00faltimas versiones de SCI0 a\u00f1adieron soporte para alfabetos internacionales, por lo que permit\u00edan una mayor facilidad de traducci\u00f3n a otros idiomas.<\/p>\n
